Professional Fly Fishing Guide in Northern Italy

Hello, I’m Matteo De Falco, a professional fly fishing guide based in Northern Italy.

Fly fishing has been part of my life for over 35 years, taking me from European rivers to Alaska, Canada, Patagonia, the Amazon and many other destinations around the world.

Over the years, I have developed a particular passion for trout fishing, especially dry fly fishing, Euro nymphing and streamer fishing. I have always believed that understanding a river is far more important than simply mastering a technique.

Today, I guide anglers on the rivers of Northern Italy, including the Brenta River and other exceptional fly fishing destinations within reach of Venice.

For me, guiding is not about following a fixed program. It is about reading the river, understanding what is happening and helping each angler get the most from the day.

My Career in Fishing Television

Fishing is not only my passion. It has also been my profession for more than three decades.

I have produced and presented over 1,000 fishing documentaries for Italian television, exploring different techniques, remarkable fishing destinations and the people who make this world so fascinating.

My television career includes series such as Passione Artificiale, Tutti a Pesca, Wild Trentino, Big Fish Adventures, Adrenaline, Acque Veloci ,Parliamo di Pesca, among many others.

I currently serve as Editorial Director of Pesca TV, Italy’s television channel dedicated to fishing.

I am also the author of several fishing books, including publications dedicated to fly fishing and streamer techniques.

Television has given me the opportunity to fish alongside extraordinary anglers, discover unfamiliar waters and learn something new almost every day.

And after all these years, that is still what I love most about fishing: there is always something more to discover.

From Television to the River

Despite spending much of my professional life in front of a camera, the river remains the place where I feel most at home.

Guiding gives me the opportunity to share what I have learned, introduce anglers to some of Italy’s most beautiful waters and enjoy the simple pleasure of spending a day fishing together.

Whether we are casting dry flies to rising trout or searching deep pools with streamers, every day is different.

And that is exactly how I like it.
